My son has always called my crab dip “Mom’s warm and yummy crab dip”, but now that I am a grandma it’s name has changed. I make this dip for every family get together, holidays and sporting events we watch on television. It is a family favorite appetizer.
For some reason I have been much of a chips person and always served my dips with assorted crackers instead. This dip has been served with chips before but the chips do not hold up very well. It also goes very well with slices of a crusty baugette bread, and chunks of a good French bread.
Here is what you will need:
2 8-oz pkgs cream cheese (softened)
1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese divided
1/4 cup light mayonnaise
1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
1 green onion chopped
1 lb. cooked crabmeat, flaked
Assorted variety of crackers
The first thing you will want to do is preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Next coat a 1 – 1/2 quart casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray. Then in a medium bowl combine the cream cheese, 3/4 cup of the Cheddar cheese the mayonnaise, mustard and lemon juice; stir until you get a smooth consistancy. Next add the green onions and the crabmeat, mix well. Transfer the mixture into the casserole dish and sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of sharp Cheddar cheese on top.
Place the casserole in the oven. Bake the casserole for 30 minutes or until heated through. Serve with the assortment of crackers and enjoy! The prep time for this dish is about 10 minutes and the cooking time is approximately 30 minutes.
